iTunes->C4 Playlist Converter

 

This tool is used to convert your iTunes playlist into a C4-compatible playlist. If you have problems or questions, click here for Help. Once you have read the instructions and have your files ready to upload, use the form below to process these files. To convert your iTunes playlist(s), browse and select the exported C4 Media List and iTunes Playlist XML files. When selected, click the "Upload & Create C4 Playlist" button to convert the iTunes playlist(s) and the new C4 Playlist XML data will be display in a field.

NOTE: There is a 25MB file upload limit (a file cannot be more than 25MB). Supported browsers: Google Chrome & Microsoft Internet Explorer (known issues with Mozilla).

Help/Instructions:

Things needed before you can use the iTunes->C4 Playlist Converter tool:
Note: You may need to contact your dealer to do the following, if C4 tools aren't at your disposal or aren't capable of performing the steps (over your head).

  1. You need to have your digital media (i.e. mp3's) imported and scanned via C4 Composer or another applicable C4 tool.
  2. Export your entire C4 media library to a XML file (store in a place that you can easily find - will use in this tool - 1st file field).
  3. Open your iTunes, right-click a playlist that you would like to convert and select "Export". Save these files as a XML file (store in a place that you can easily find - will use in this tool - 2nd, 3rd and or 4th file field).

Using the iTunes->C4 Playlist Converter tool:

  1. In the first field, browse your computer's file system and select the exported C4 Media List XML file (file created by following Step #2 above).
  2. In the other fields, browse your computer's file system and select the exported iTunes Playlist XML file(s) (file created by following Step #3 above).
  3. Click the "Upload & Create C4 Playlist" button to upload all of your files and create your C4 Playlist XML file.
  4. Once the uploaded files have been processed, a link to the C4 Playlist XML data will be displayed on the page.
  5. To download the C4 Playlist XML file, right-click the link and select "Save Target As..." or "Save Link As...".
  6. Select a folder on your computer that you would like to download the C4 Playlist file to.

Importing C4 Playlist file into your C4 Media Library (via C4 Composer):

  1. Connect to your C4 Controller via Composer (may need your dealer to access this software).
  2. Click the "Media" tab.
  3. From the Composer menu, select "Import Playlists".
  4. Browse to the folder where you downloaded your new C4 Playlist file, select it and click the "Open" button.
  5. Depending on the size of your file, it may take some time for your controller process the records/songs.
  6. When complete, Composer will display the new playlists under the "Playlists" menu item (on left pane).


  
   


In case you want to show your appreciation for the long hours and late nights spent, to build a tool for all of us to use, please feel free (j/k - trying to make you feel guilty). :-) You never know, it may provide me the motivation needed to make this tool more refined. But seriously, I didn't build this for the money. I just wanted to solve MY problem and assumed others would find it useful as well. I hope the tool helped you guys/gals out!!
